"I have been in the health care field for more than 35 years. For the past nine years, I have been the instructor of the Administrative Medical Assistant program at Bates Technical College. I originally worked as an accredited record technician in an inpatient hospital setting and subsequently worked for a number of years as a medical transcriptionist. Immediately before coming to Bates, I was employed by a group of surgeons and was responsible for hospital billing and all patient accounts for that practice. I served on the Advisory Committee to the Administrative Medical Assistant program at Bates for several years before being selected as the instructor. I find it very rewarding to work with students and provide them with the skills they will need for a successful transition to the workplace as allied health professionals.
