The Basic Food  & Training (BFET) is a funding program for low-income students who receive federal food assistance.The program is designed to help low-income students overcome financial barriers while they pursue an education. The program is voluntary, and allows participants to keep their food benefits while they attend college.

BFET can provide financial support for:

  • Tuition
  • Books
  • Tools
  • Transportation
  • Emergency costs
  • Uniforms

BFET participants are also eligible for child care assitance through DSHS Working Connections.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You are eligible if you currently receive federal food assistance.
  • You are not eligible if you receive a TANF cash grant.

Low-income students who do not receive food assistance may still be eligible. Contact Steve Wood for more information.
