Job Readiness Training Center

The Job Readiness Training Center (JRTC) works in collaboration with WorkFirst partner agencies to assist low-income parents receiving WorkFirst or TANF and Basic Food Benefits to identify appropriate training opportunities leading to employment and self-sufficiency.

Partner Resources

JRTC works closely with other partner agencies to meet the needs of the community. The following reference guide is available to help you determine just a few of the many resources available.

In the Excel spreadsheet, please note that you should click on the tabs at the bottom to navigate the information.

JRTC helps you meet your educational and professional goals before, during, and after your time at Bates. Although JRTC's primary focus is on assisting WorkFirst and low-income parents and individuals who receive Basic Food Benefits, the department works to find opportunities for all students.

JRTC offers support in four key areas:

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance may include tuition, books, supplies, and/or other expenses. Additionally, you may be eligible for Work Study positions, which allows you to earn additional funds while attending college.

Educational Program Placement

JRTC works to match you with career education programs that complement your unique interests and skills. We review labor market trends, helping you choose programs that lead to employment in established and emerging fields.

Barrier Removal

JRTC understands that times can get tough and you might be faced with decisions that can impact your ability to complete your educational goals. Before entering a program, our staff help you work through any barriers or needs.

JRTC works with local agencies to provide you with information and resources that will promote your success in career and technical education. We provide support, materials and, when available, funding assistance such as scholarship information, loan information, and agencies that offer funding.

After you enter your program, JRTC staff will continue to partner with you throughout the course of your enrollment.

Job Placement Assistance

Upon program completion, JRTC offers job placement assistance. JRTC partners works with the instructors of career education programs, Employment Security Department (ESD) staff and other organizations to provide job training, job search, job placement, and work experience opportunities for you in your field of training.
