If you currently receive TANF and participate in Washington state's WorkFirst program, you may qualify for WorkFirst financial assistance to complete your education at Bates.

As a dedicated partner in the WorkFirst program, our staff works with your DSHS case manager so you can get WorkFirst credit while you attend Bates. Our career training programs prepare you for the workplace and help you work toward self sufficiency. Trained staff help you choose the program that's right for you.

WorkFirst can help you pay for tuition and books, and as a WorkFirst participant, you may also qualify for child care and other WorkFirst benefits through DSHS.

You may qualify if:

  • You are a parent who receives TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
  • You participate in the WorkFirst program

Tell your case manager at DSHS you want to pursue your career education at Bates Technical College. If you are you a custodial parent who doesn't receive TANF, contact DSHS to see if WorkFirst can help you pursue your career goals.
