Bates Technical College names new instructional deansMonday, October 28
TACOMA, Wash. - Bates Technical College President Dr. Ron Langrell recently announced the appointments of Joshua Baker and Brandon Rogers as deans of instruction, effective October.
A resident of Renton, Baker oversees the college's general education, articulation agreements, basic skills and English as a second language programs, developmental education, the tutoring center, athletics, and a handful of career education programs. He most recently served as assistant dean at Center Grove Early College, a partner of Vincennes University in Indiana. Baker previously worked as an instructor, coach, program manager and coordinator for six years at Highline Community College.
Baker holds a master's degree in physical education and a bachelor's degree in history teaching, both from Brigham Young University. He is working toward a Ph.D. in community college leadership at Oregon State University.
Before arriving at Bates, Rogers served as the special assistant to the president at Shoreline Community College, and as the grant development coordinator at Clover Park Technical College. Currently, Rogers supervises several career education programs at the college's South Campus. He also coordinates grants and contract development.
The author of several books on college admission and financial aid, Rogers holds a bachelor's degree in French from the University of Missouri, and a master's degree in higher education from the University of South Carolina. Rogers plans to earn a doctor of education from Northeastern University in 2015.
