Broadcasting and Video Production

The Broadcasting and Video Production program prepares graduates for a wide variety of operational, engineering and production jobs needed to plan, tape and air studio programs, remote news or sporting event broadcasts. Students train for positions that set up, integrate and operate the equipment used to switch between multiple cameras and microphones. Broadcast technicians balance inputs and regulate fidelity, brightness, contrast, volume and sound quality required for broadcast productions. Graduates often start their careers in smaller markets or independent production studios where employees need a broad range of skills. Positions in the industry can be specialized or combine production, operations and engineering duties. [ See more info about the program. ]

During the first part of the program, students develop foundation skills in broadcast engineering, operations, and studio production camera techniques. In their second year, students choose electives that prepare them for specific positions and jobs within the broadcast industry. The Broadcasting and Video Production program is nationally recognized by the Society of Broadcast Engineers and carries their certification for industry approved course content. SBE Certification can be gained by Graduates upon successful completion of the ‘Broadcast Technologist’ exam.
