Dental Lab Technician

Instructors in Bates’ Dental Laboratory Technician program are certified dental technicians. The competency-based curriculum complies with American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines and is the only fully ADA accredited program of its kind in Washington State.

The Dental Laboratory Technician program at Bates Technical College includes hands-on training in dentures, orthodontics, partial dentures, crowns and bridges, and porcelain work. Class hours in the laboratory/classroom are 7:15am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday. Bates' open-entry policy means you can enroll and learn at your own pace.

Second year students have the opportunity to fulfill the work-based learning experience requirement in a local dental laboratory, an experience that has led to post-graduation employment for many students in this program. Upon successful program completion, graduates are eligible to take the Recognized Graduate Examination, an important step toward becoming a Certified Dental Technician. ..:: O*net Wages & Employment Trends ::..

To enter this program, a high school diploma (or equivalent) is necessary and you must be at least 18 years of age.  Additionally, program applicants must pass an evaluation of their hand-eye coordination and their ability to visualize forms in three dimensions.
