Rave Emergency Alert System
Rave Alert is Bates Technical College's official emergency notification system used to communicate with students and employees during campus emergencies. All staff and students with a Bates-issued email address are automatically enrolled in the system. This system is used only during campus emergencies that pose a safety concern for the community. To learn more about customizing your notification settings, visit the web page to learn more.
People with Disabilities
Determine in advance where your alternative shelter will be and how you will get there. For those in a wheelchair, make sure there is more than one exit from your home in case the primary exit is blocked. Teach those who may need to assist you in an emergency how to operate necessary equipment. Arrange for a relative or neighbor to check on you in an emergency. If you currently use a personal care attendant obtained from an agency, check to see if the agency has special provisions for emergencies. Customize an Emergency Health Information Card. Keep copies in your wallet, purse and emergency supply kits.
English as a Second Language
If you have a family member who does not speak English, prepare an emergency card written in English indicating that person's identification, address and any special needs such as medication or allergies. Tell that person to keep the card with them at all times.
