Child Studies

The Child Studies Department (formerly called Home & Family Life) offers an extensive menu of parenting, child development and other classes. For those interested in pursuing a career in child care or early childhood education, the department offers a comprehensive training and certification program. The department also provides professional guidance for cooperative preschools, an early childhood resource center for parents and teachers of young children, parenting seminars, and a host of other classes and programs.

Registration

All registrations for Child Studies classes are processed at Bates' South Campus. In most circumstances, registration is required five days prior to the first class. Please register early to avoid class cancellation because of low enrollment. Bates reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes, or change instructors. Fees are also subject to change.
