At Bates Technical College, program advisory committee members receive training prior to serving as voting members. The training is facilitated by a program administrator at a regularly scheduled committee meeting and covers among other things the purpose of advisory committees; our college advisory structure; membership appointment, composition and term limits; and membership roles and responsibilities. It is about ½-hour in length.
The Educator Training Center developed the training and offers a one-hour train-the-trainer session which prepares program administrators to effectively facilitate the advisory committee training. The train-the-trainer session, designed for continuity college-wide, includes a presenter kit containing the following presenter materials:
- Instructions on how to prepare for the Advisory Committee Training
- Script/note pages for the presentation
- Presenter CD containing the PowerPoint slide presentation and accompanying handouts.
- Bates Technical College Board Policy 5-506 regarding advisory committees.
- Robert’s Rules of Order Motion Chart
To assist program administrators, the Educator Training Center has equipment available for checkout and we are happy to provide technical assistance. Reservations for checkout should be made at least two weeks prior to the training.
- Laptop
- Data projector
- Portable screen
If you would like more information, need to schedule a train-the-trainer session, or need to reserve equipment, please contact the Educator Training Center, 253.680.7161 or email Jannica. |
