Bates offers the only program in the region for students to prepare for careers in electrical code application, interior and exterior lighting design, and all aspects of electrical design. This degree program covers all phases of electrical engineering and design for commercial buildings.

Technicians design and draft electrical power, signal, interior and exterior lighting systems, assist in specification writing, research and development, and share in on-site construction supervision. Students are encouraged to take the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) examinations and seek certification as electrical engineering technicians.
