Barrier Removal JRTC works with local agencies to offer information on how to remove barriers to education. In conjunction with our local planning area (LPA) JRTC leverages funding sources to provide assistance to you that will promote your success in career and technical education. JRTC understands that times can get tough and you might be faced with decisions that can impact your ability to complete your educational goals, JRTC staff works with you to provide support, materials and, when available, funding assistance such as scholarship information, loan information, and agencies that offer funding.
Course Placement and Assessment JRTC staff works with you to provide assessment for course placement. Staff discusses your educational plan and career goals with you and offers a variety of assessments, including World of Work Inventory Assessment, COMPASS testing, and CASAS placement. The assessment portion focuses on two primary areas: student learning (that which students should know, think or do) and service to students (the way in which the college infrastructure supports or facilitates student learning). In addition, assessment at Bates Technical College includes using the information gathered to foster continued improvement (i.e., closing the loop). JRTC students meet with career specialists and instructors who work with you to develop an educational plan. Through collaboration, JRTC can locate the program that best matches your strengths, abilities and interests.
