| Bates Technical College provides General Educational Development (GED) testing to those who have not completed the requirements to earn a high school diploma and who wish to earn a GED certificate.
The GED is a paper and pencil test comprised of five individual tests: Language Arts Writing, Language Arts Reading, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. GED tests are offered at Bates on Tuesdays. No appointment is needed. Cost for the complete GED battery is $75, or $15 per test or retest. Prior to testing, prospective examinees must attend a GED Pre-Registration Session. For more information about dates and times for Pre-Registration, contact the Assessment Center.
For those who need additional classes as a review before they are ready to test, Bates offers Basic Studies classes at its Downtown and South Campuses, and at some off-campus sites. At the GED Orientation sessions, the Adult Basic Education instructors administer the CASAS test (to establish Math and English placement) and assist students with enrolling for classes. Come to a Downtown or South Campus BSEP (Basic Studies Educational Planning) Session to get information and register for Basic Studies Class. For information call 253.680.7274.
