This ten-week Fire Academy is designed for entry level career staff or individuals seeking advanced training and evaluation, and is IFSAC accredited for Firefighter I.   Academy graduates receive, upon successful completion, certifications for Firefighter I, Hazardous Material Operations, Hazardous Material Awareness, Burn to Learn, and Combat Flammable Liquids Fires.

Prerequisite

• Must be agency sponsored.
• Entrance exam and pre-employment physical required.
• Non pre-employment applicants will be required to take the COMPASS test indicating a minimum Reading and English Level of 13.
• Must pass a pre-entry physical prior to acceptance.

Required equipment

• NFPA Compliant Clothing
• NFPA Compliant S.C.B.A. *

*Qualitative mask fit test results required.
