New Chance

Are you currently in transition?  If you are between jobs, changing careers, re-entering the workplace, or facing major personal or professional changes, we can help.  New Chance can assist you with locating the tools to achieve your goals or provide encouragement to take the next step.  If you’re looking for a deeper sense of self-awareness to determine what’s truly best for you, read on.

New Chance is a FREE program aimed at helping you reach your personal and professional goals. This informative and interactive class runs Monday through Friday over the course of four weeks, helping you develop crucial employment skills, update computer competencies, and build self-confidence.   New Chance gives you the tools to pursue the next steps on your path, whatever they may be.

Self-assessment
New Chance students begin with a series of self-assessments that are designed to help determine your strengths, weaknesses, values, challenges, motivators, personality traits, and preferences.  This knowledge is then integrated into your job search process.

Job Search
New Chance covers all components of searching for a job, including writing a successful resume and mastering the interview process.  The class also teaches an in-depth job search process, covering everything from targeting appropriate and rewarding careers to setting effective goals and how to maximize your networking opportunities.  Learn new techniques to market your strengths and separate yourself from the numerous candidates applying for the same position.

Life Skills
New Chance covers a variety of life skills, from critical thinking, setting goals, and recognizing your learning style, to becoming a more effective communicator, valuing diversity, resolving conflicts, and working in a team environment.  You will have opportunities to learn, master and demonstrate these proficiencies.

Computer Competencies
New Chance makes it easy to become computer literate, or help increase your computer skills.  With time set aside each day, participants can learn and explore the Microsoft Office Suite, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  You also have the opportunity to work online, allowing you to access key information outside of the classroom.
