Bates Technical College Land Surveying program is a leader in establishing the foundation for Land Surveying as an occupation.

This course prepares students with work-ready competencies for careers as surveying technicians, or provides continuing education for persons previously or currently employed in this occupation.

The course provides an environment closely resembling a surveying firm, giving students practice in all aspects of the profession, including defining project requirements, conducting calculations, field work, layout, CAD work, and presentation to client. The student works with modern equipment and software that is standard in the industry.

Curriculum includes industry-specific skills as well as training in related instruction. The curriculum for this program is entirely competency based. Students are rated according to their mastery of these skills/tasks at predetermined industry standards of performance.

Special Notes: For industry skill building, projects are generated to introduce the student to the everyday issues in the field to help build skill in recognition and developing solutions.

Core academics include college - level courses in human relations, communication, and mathematics. These related instruction workplace elements occur during normal career education program activities.
