Ingrid Smith
Web Developer Instructor

Ingrid has been with Bates Technical College since 1992 and taught in the computer field since 1996. Here, she has delivered current industry training in a variety of areas in the information technologies field.

As an instructor her program focuses on web development and interfaces with business and industry to meet education and training needs. She has been the lead instructor since the program started in 2003.

Her education includes industry certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist, CompTIA A+, Network+, and i-Net+. She is also Certified Internet Web Instructor through Prosoft. Pierce County Careers Connection named her an Outstanding Educator for 2005 recognizing the skills and leadership demonstrated during the 2004-2005 academic year.

Dan Achman
Software Development Instructor

Dan is an alumnus of Bates, graduating from the program in 1976.

Before joining the faculty at Bates in 1998, he spent 20 years in the IT industry.  He has worked at all levels from Operations and Management with several local companies including Westin Hotels, Rotary Offset Press and Rainier Mortgage.

He is a past recipient of a teaching fellowship at University of Washington, Tacoma and continues to work closely with UWT in preparing interested Bates students for transfer upon graduation.
