"As a single parent, raising 2 children working as a school bus driver was great for a while, everything worked around my kids. But as we all know, children grow up; with the expenses of one in middle school and one starting high school, I needed a career change and fast. I enrolled in Bates’ Local Truck Driving course for what seemed at the time as the longest 5-½ months of my life. When I look back now, two years after graduation, oh how much more simple life is. I can afford things now for my children and myself. I have a career now not just a job.

The job I now have has been absolutely great; Fed Ex Freight has given me an opportunity of a lifetime, full benefits, 401k, and payraises twice a year. I will always pat myself on the back for going to Bates and signing up for the course but if Bates wasn’t there I can only imagine what life would be like right now for me. I am about to be a homeowner for the 1st time in my life and am reaping rewards to the fullest for attending Bates Technical College. I will always be grateful to Bates ... Thank you."
