The Paraeducator Training Program is a statewide, distance-learning opportunity for individuals currently working as paraeducators—or those wishing to enter the field.

By offering videobased courses, the Paraeducator Training Program makes it possible for you to earn 100-level college credit at your home. You never have to come to Bates to register or attend class. You have the convenience of scheduling course work around your job and family. There are no registration deadlines! You can register online or by phone at any time. Tuition includes everything you need to complete the course.

Our courses are designed to address the Washington State Core Competencies for Paraeducators. The program is funded in part by a grant from the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). It is the goal of the Paraeducator Training Program to reduce or eliminate barriers that often times prevent paraeducators from obtaining adequate and appropriate training.

Although the target audience is paraeducators—that is, teacher assistants, educational assistants, etc.—other school employees, parents, people working with children in the private sector, and others have also enrolled and benefited from the course offerings. For teachers or other certificated staff members, OSPI accepts our courses for certificate acquisition and maintenance.

Participants have expressed satisfaction with the high quality course content and the convenience of self-paced, self-directed learning.
