Frequently Asked Questions
When can I start? Bates operates on a quarterly enrollment basis. Students must register prior to the first day of the quarter. Returning students must pay all college financial obligations (e.g. library fines, high school deposits, tuition, etc.) prior to registration. Students with unpaid debt will not be allowed to register until the debts are paid.
How do I change programs? You may re-enter into the program that you previously attended or change programs. Check with a career specialist to find out if some of your courses transfer.
I attended another school. Does Bates accept transcripts from other institutions? Bates accepts official transcripts from other institutions. Transcripts must be sent in a sealed envelope to the attention of the credentials evaluator in the registration office. Transcpipts sent electronically will also be accepted.
The last time I came to Bates, I had financial aid. Do I need to re-apply? If you've not submitted a request for financial aid through www.fafsa.ed.gov for this year, you will beed to submit a new request. Students are encouraged to contact the financial aid office for assistance, 253.680.7020.
How do I apply for a degree or certificate?
- During your final quarter, complete a Credential Application and submit the form to the Registration Office, M210. This indicates to the credentials evaluator that you are nearing completion of a degree or certificate.
- Your instructor will send final grades to the Registration Office for evaluation.
- You will receive your credential in six to eight weeks once the credentials evaluator verifies your degree or certificate.
- Your official transcript will reflect your earned degree or certificate upon verification by the credentials evaluator.
